Instagram is rolling out an AI assistant in Edits, according to Amanda Silberling at TechCrunch. Meta describes it as help with understanding Instagram insights and coming up with ideas.

I’d like help with that. When I care about a subject, it’s easy to spend too much time getting to the thing I wanted to say. A video can mean something to me and still ask too much patience from the person watching.

Here’s how I’d approach it: look at where people stop watching, then go back to that part of the video. Did I start explaining something without giving enough context? Did I make the same point twice? That would give me something specific to try changing.

The numbers can’t tell me why each person left. I’d still need to watch the video and decide whether the suggestion makes sense. But having help finding a pattern could save me from changing everything because one post didn’t do well.

Meta says its Edits Plus plan will include additional assistant usage; I’d check what’s included before paying for more. For me, a useful result would be a clearer next video on a subject I still care about.
