xAI has introduced Team Bots, shared assistants built around a team’s work. The September 28 announcement puts them in public beta for Teams and Enterprise plans.
A team can give its bot files, instructions and reusable skills, then connect the tools it needs. xAI says the shared bot can also have a Slack handle, while each person’s conversations and personal memories remain separate. That’s the company’s description of the privacy arrangement, not an independent assessment of it.
The examples are fairly easy to picture: a sales bot preparing account briefings, an engineering bot helping with tickets, or a marketing bot reviewing work against brand guidance. xAI describes these uses in its own operations. They aren’t evidence that another team will get the same results.
The part I like is being able to teach something once and have the team benefit from it. If five people need the same guidance for a recurring task, rebuilding it in five separate chats feels wasteful. A shared bot could keep that guidance available when someone new joins or a colleague is out.
There is a practical question underneath that convenience: who decides which correction becomes guidance for everyone? One person’s preference shouldn’t quietly become the team’s rule. I’d want to see how changes are reviewed and how the bot handles instructions that disagree before depending on it for shared work.
I’ve been impressed by how quickly xAI is adding useful ways to work with its models. Team Bots is a good example of what has my attention. I haven’t tested it, so I can’t speak to how well it holds up day to day. I do think reducing the amount of repeated setup people do separately is a worthwhile problem to solve.
